NOAA-11 Decommissioned NOAA has deactivated the old satellite NOAA-11 (NOAA-H). The satellite was taken off the air on June 16, 2004. The power has been depleted, the batteries disconnected and the on-board transmitters have been turned off. The Argos System will no longer receive data through this satellite. For more information: http://www.oso.noaa.gov/poes/index.htm. ADEOS-II - Operational Problems
The Argos data received by this satellite were being distributed to all users as a bonus to the nominal two-satellite Argos service. The nominal Argos service will now go back to two satellites. To provide you with the best orbital configuration, the nominal satellites will now be NOAA-16 (L) and NOAA-17 (M) beginning on 7 November 2003. Despite the problems aboard MIDORI/ADEOS II, the Argos Platform Messaging Transceiver (PMT) developments will continue in anticipation of the next Argos 2-way system being available aboard the METOP-1 satellite in late 2005. Argos will contact those users who had requested a PMT for evaluation purposes to identify appropriate short and long term strategies for applying the Argos 2-way capability to their needs.
